VILLAGE ENHANCEMENT GROUP

The Village Enhancement Group (VEG) was first formed in 1998 as a Millennium project. As the name suggests, this voluntary group has looked at ways of enhancing and maintaining the appearance of our village.

Early projects were – planting bulbs in grass verges and triangles, and planting a hedge in the Parish Field consisting of species common to local Warwickshire hedges. We then undertook the cleaning, painting and planting in troughs of the two village pumps. Trees have been planted in the Parish Field and, working with the Parish Council, a new seat was placed in the Parish Field.

Planting by road signs, sometimes in small planters, at the entrances to the village (including a large cattle trough) and by the Playing Field gates continues, or is maintained. Litter collections are carried out regularly, though very little litter is found.

In conjunction with the Parish Council, we arranged a new sign, or finger post, to be placed on a triangle which is an intersection of three roads.

We continue a programme of maintaining beds and planting of bulbs and, having played a very large part in the creation of The Charles Maries Trail around the village, continue to help maintain and develop it.

Any help and support with our work will be most warmly welcomed, so that we can continue to enhance our village and its environment for the benefit of all.
